A Look Around PlayCafe: Our Different Play Sections

One of the things parents notice on their first visit to PlayCafe is just how many different ways there are to play. Rather than one big open space with everything mixed together, we've split PlayCafe into distinct sections, each designed around a different kind of play. Here's a look at what you'll find in each one.

The Matted Area and Sofa

This is our quieter corner, with a comfortable sofa and a fully matted floor. It's the spot for slowing down — parents reading a book to their child, or just as often, a child "reading" the story back to mum or dad in their own way. Alongside the books, you'll find stacking blocks, magnetic trains, and stepping stones for children who want to build, balance, and move at their own pace.

The Real Life Section

Children love to imitate the world around them, and this section is built for exactly that. There's a doll house, baby bunk beds, a kitchen, a washing machine, a cooker, and a fridge, along with a coffee shop and a medical station. Whether they're serving up a coffee, "fixing" a poorly teddy, or putting the baby to bed, children spend hours here acting out everyday routines and making sense of the world through play.

The Baby Area

Designed specifically for our youngest visitors, the baby area is fully matted with soft cushions where parents can sit comfortably while their little one explores. The toys here are age-appropriate, and we've included a range of sensory toys to encourage early exploration through touch, sound, and texture.

The Train Set and Building Table

For children who love to build and construct, this section has a train set and small town for imaginative, hands-on play, alongside a building table stocked with Lego and Magna-Tiles. It's a firm favourite for children who want to create something of their own, whether that's a railway, a tower, or a town of their own design.

Each section is designed to offer something different, so whatever your child is drawn to on any given day, there's a space at PlayCafe for them to explore it.
